Lizkon Fashion Academy is coming to Abuja
After six years of teaching in Afikpo and Abakaliki, Lizkon Fashion Academy opens in Apo Resettlement, Abuja, in January 2027. Here is what we'll teach, who it's for and how to reserve a place.

Lizkon has been teaching for almost as long as it has been sewing. When the first Lizkon studio opened on Amachi Road, Afikpo, in 2019, the cutting table doubled as a classroom. By 2020, fee-paying students were learning on the studio's machines while working on real client orders.
Since then more than 60 people have trained with us, from complete beginners to practising tailors. Between 2024 and 2025 alone we certified 25 graduates of our Advanced/Bridal class, and in 2024 we welcomed our first international student.
In January 2026 our production studio moved to Abuja. In January 2027 the academy follows.
What we'll teach
- Beginners' Diploma (4 months, Monday to Wednesday) for complete beginners. No sewing experience needed.
- Advanced / Bridal Couture (3 months, Thursday and Friday) for practising tailors who want to master corsetry, bust caging, mermaid and ball gowns, veils and beading.
- Weekend Class (5 months, Saturdays): the Beginners' syllabus for women who work during the week.
- Short courses and masterclasses in bridal beading and embellishment, corsetry, adire and batik, pattern drafting and industrial finishing.
How we teach
Classes are about 70% practical. Every topic follows the same rhythm: a demonstration, guided practice, then a garment of your own. We teach the Natalie Bray method of pattern drafting, so you learn to draft from body measurements rather than copy a style.
Classes are capped at 30 students, and every programme ends with the business side of fashion: pricing, client management, social media and bookkeeping. Advanced students also work on supervised client orders in our production studio.
